Terra Incognita, a Latin term, translates to unknown land. It is a term I’ve seen repeatedly throughout the ancient maps I’ve studied, back when many large sections of the world were still a mystery. This piece represents my first stab at mosaic cartography and the beginning of a much larger conceptual series. You can see several small modern symbols embedded into the field that may remind you of your own virtual searches.
