Visiting artist, Carol Shelkin, will be bringing her signature realism in portraiture technique and vibrant teaching style to the walls of The Ruins for a very special learning experience. This four-day workshop stands out as a unique opportunity to work, from the ground up, as part of a team, while creating a site-specific installation. Your teamwork will become a part of the ever-evolving story that started with coal mining and has become a mosaic phoenix rising from the ashes.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to work with not one, but two dynamic and passionate teachers of the mosaic world. Rachel will be on hand to give you a behind the scenes, VIP tour of The Ruins Project and you will become a part of the transformative narrative that is becoming a beacon to mosaic artists from around the world.
$865 for this four-day workshop includes all materials and lunch each day.
What to expect:
a morning field trip to select from the beautiful materials of the Youghiogheny Opalescent Glass in Connellsville Pennsylvania. Also a great opportunity to browse their world famous stained glass. (20-minute drive from studio)
Learning to work on mesh in Rachel Sager Mosaics studio.
Learning to install compositions on mesh onto the concrete walls of The Ruins.
Private consultation with Rachel and Carol about your mosaic future.
Realism & Impressionism in Mosaic including Portraiture.
Your Ruins work photographed, logged, and posted into the social networking and Rachel Sager Mosaics website.
End of the week BBQ/beer/bonfire and tour of our Ruins contributions.
